C9300-48P-E - Cisco Catalyst 9300 48-Port PoE+ Network Essentials
Cisco C9300-48P-E Catalyst 9300 48-Port PoE+ Switch
Premier Stackable Layer 3 Access Platform with High-Density PoE+
The Cisco Catalyst C9300-48P-E is an enterprise-grade, stackable access layer switch engineered to support secure, scalable, and cloud-ready campus networks. Part of the Cisco Catalyst 9300 Series, this model features 48 Gigabit Ethernet PoE+ ports with a 740W default power budget, making it ideal for powering IP phones, Wi-Fi 6 access points, cameras, and IoT devices.
Powered by Cisco IOS XE and the Network Essentials license, the C9300-48P-E delivers robust Layer 3 functionality including OSPF, EIGRP-Stub, RIP, and static routing, while providing a strong foundation for Cisco SD-Access deployments. Its UADP 2.0 ASIC ensures wire-rate performance, advanced telemetry, and enhanced security at scale.
Designed for high availability, the switch supports StackWise-480, allowing up to 8 switches to operate as a single logical unit with 480 Gbps stacking bandwidth and sub-second failover. Modular uplink options (1G, 10G, 25G, and 40G) and dual redundant, field-replaceable power supplies ensure long-term investment protection and operational resilience.
With advanced security features such as AES-128 MACsec encryption, Secure Boot, Trust Anchor, and Encrypted Traffic Analytics (ETA), the Cisco Catalyst C9300-48P-E is an ideal access switch for modern enterprises demanding performance, security, and scalability.

FAQs:
Q1. What is the difference between the C9300 and C9200 series?
The C9300 is a higher-performance platform with triple the stacking bandwidth (480 Gbps vs 160 Gbps), larger buffers, and support for advanced features like Audio Video Bridging (AVB) and ETA.
Q2. Can I increase the PoE budget for this switch?
Yes. While it comes with a default 715W AC power supply, adding a second power supply or upgrading to 1100W units can increase the total PoE budget to 1440W or higher.
Q3. Does this switch include the stacking cables and kit?
No. For the C9300 series, the STACK-T1-50CM (or other lengths) stacking cables must be purchased separately. Unlike the 9300L, the stacking capability is built into the chassis (no kit needed).
Q4. Does "Network Essentials" support BGP?
No. Network Essentials on the 9300 series supports foundational Layer 3 (Static, RIP, OSPF, EIGRP-Stub). For full BGP, IS-IS, or VRF-lite, you must upgrade to the Network Advantage license.
Q5. Are the uplink modules interchangeable with Catalyst 3850 modules?
No. The Catalyst 9300 uses a new set of network modules (e.g., C9300-NM-8X) that are not backward compatible with the 3850 series.
