ISR4431-V/K9 Cisco ISR4431 UC Bundle Integrated Services Router
Cisco ISR4431-V/K9 ISR 4431 UC Bundle Integrated Services Router
High-Performance Unified Communications and Security for the Enterprise Branch
The Cisco ISR4431-V/K9 is a high-performance Integrated Services Router (ISR) designed to meet the demanding needs of large enterprise branch offices. Part of the Cisco ISR 4000 Series, this Unified Communications (UC) bundle is purpose-built to deliver voice, video, security, and data services simultaneously without compromising performance.
Featuring a multicore CPU architecture, the ISR4431-V/K9 intelligently separates the control, data, and services planes, ensuring that intensive workloads such as voice processing, IPsec encryption, and WAN routing operate efficiently and reliably. With 500 Mbps of base throughput, scalable up to 1 Gbps through a software license, organizations can adopt a pay-as-you-grow model that protects long-term investment.
The router includes four onboard Gigabit Ethernet ports, three NIM slots, and a dedicated ISC slot optimized for PVDM4 DSP modules, making it ideal for professional Cisco Unified Communications deployments. Advanced security features including IPsec and SSL VPN, along with full Cisco SD-WAN (IOS XE) compatibility, enable secure, cloud-ready branch connectivity. Support for dual redundant power supplies ensures high availability for mission-critical operations.
The Cisco ISR4431-V/K9 is an excellent choice for enterprises seeking a scalable, secure, and UC-ready WAN edge router.

FAQs:
Q1. What makes the "V" bundle (ISR4431-V/K9) different from the standard ISR4431/K9?
The "V" stands for Voice. This bundle includes the Unified Communications (UC) license. This is required to handle voice features like SRST (Survivable Remote Site Telephony), CUBE (Cisco Unified Border Element), and analog/digital voice interfaces.
Q2. Can I use the SFP ports and RJ-45 ports at the same time?
The 4 onboard ports are "combo" ports. While there are 4 RJ-45 and 4 SFP physical slots, you can only use a total of 4 active connections at any given time (e.g., 2 SFP and 2 RJ-45).
Q3. Does this router support Power over Ethernet (PoE)?
The onboard ports do not provide PoE by default. However, you can add a PoE-enabled NIM module or upgrade to a PoE-integrated power supply to provide power to IP phones or access points.
Q4. Is the throughput 500 Mbps per port or total?
The 500 Mbps limit is the aggregate throughput for the entire chassis. This includes all traffic entering and exiting the router. If your branch requirements grow, you can license this up to 1 Gbps.
Q5. What operating system does it run?
It runs Cisco IOS-XE, a modular operating system that allows for better stability and the running of virtualized services directly on the router.
