NPE-G2 Cisco NPE-G2 Network Processing Engine
The Cisco NPE-G2 Network Processing Engine is part of the Cisco family which provides the broadest line of solutions for transporting data, voice and video while ensuring that networks both public and private operate with maximum performance, security, and flexibility. This modular unit is backwards compatible and doubles the performance of the older Cisco NPE-G1 along with enhancing scalability for wide area network (WAN) and metropolitan-area network (MAN) services. The NPE-G2 features three fixed Gigabit Ethernet ports 10/100/1000 Mbps copper or small form-factor pluggable optics which ensures LAN connectivity and maximizes performance while saving bandwidth points. The Cisco NPE-G2 has 1 GB of DRAM default memory to support more routes and tables which provides plenty of room to support virtual routing and forwarding instances.
